Side effects
Bimatoprost is comparatively safe, though it does have certain side effects. The most common side effects of both Lumigan and Latisse include burning eyes, the feeling of something present in your eye, sensitivity to light and dry eyes. The solutions might also cause eye irritation and stinging.

In rare cases, bimatoprost has been found to lead to severe side effects including headaches, respiratory infections, visual disturbances, eye pain, swelling of the eyelids and general sight weakness. If you experience any of these serious side effects of Lumigan or Latisse, you should immediately call your doctor for advice.

While bimatoprost is generally non-allergic, it might lead to a very serious allergic reaction in certain people. Symptoms of an allergic reaction to Lumigan or Latisse include rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness or weakness and breathing trouble. You should get medical advice quickly in such a situation.

When used over an extended period of time, Lumigan might lead to discolouration of the iris. If you use it only in one eye, than you might have two different coloured eyes over time. Latisse on the other hand causes hair growth and leads to an increase the number, length and thickness of eyelashes. It might also cause darkening of the eyelashes of the treated eye.

On the whole, both Lumigan and Latisse have more positive effects than negative ones. In most people using this medication, severe side effects have not been observed. You should always consult your doctor for a complete list of possible side effects before you start using this medication.
