Lumigan and Latisse are prescription medications and so there are
certain warnings and precautions that you should take before you
start using these. First and most important is to intimate your
doctor if you have an allergy towards bimatoprost or similar drugs.
Update your doctor about your medical history, in particular, about
any eye problems that you had earlier as this might affect
treatment. Consult your doctor immediately about using Lumigan or
Latisse in case you develop an eye infection or injury, or if you
are scheduled for eye surgery.
As one of the side effects of both Lumigan and Latisse is temporary
visual disturbances, you should avoid getting involved in activities
such as driving or operating machinery that require clear vision.
You should also discuss with your doctor any possible food
interactions that these medications might have. If required, you
should make all possible food intake changes to remain on the safe
side.
Lumigan and Latisse are generally prescribed to adults and not
recommended for children and teenagers below the age of 18 years. If
you have been prescribed this medication, keep it away from reach of
children. In case you accidentally take an over dosage of either of
these drug, get medical attention quickly as it could damage your
eye permanently.
The effects of bimatoprost on pregnant women and the unborn child
have not been studied fully, but it is advisable that pregnant women
use it only if clearly needed. In such cases, the medication should
be used under full medical supervision only. It is also unclear if
bimatoprost is passed into the milk of a breastfeeding woman and so
you should only use it after talking to your doctor if you are
breastfeeding.
